We are not what was left of a civilization; we are the current Maya civilization. We wrote the Popol Wuj.
I am Tat Apab’yan Tew, an Ajq’ij – spiritual guide of a K’iche’ Maya lineage of the highlands of Guatemala since 1998. In addition to being an expert reader of the Maya Calendar, day keeper, bone healer, herbalist, I am the only man that has been trained as a midwife in the highlands. Having the trust and privilege to support the women in successfully going through all the process of welcoming a baby, from guiding and healing for successful inception/conception, throughout support, care and necessary ceremonial, herbal healing and communication through singing to the baby during the gestation and finally receiving the baby in the Maya ways.
During the decades of practice reading the Maya Calendar and work as a midwife of the highlands I developed an extended scheme of understanding the consciousness of the baby through the pregnancy time. An introduction of that has been shared in my first book – The Birth of a Universe, The Maya Science of Pregnancy.
Being fluent in K’iche’ language, English and Spanish, I am sharing the ancient science worldwide. The book and the extended wisdom of the pregnancy time and how it shapes the consciousness for the whole life has been presented in USA, Mexico, Guatemala, Canada, Brazil, Germany, France, Spain, Poland, England, Greece, Romania, Russia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Australia, Israel, Argentina and other. I have been running in person conferences and events throughout the USA, Europe and Mexico for over a decade. Apart from sharing in conferences, I am holding online courses for an international group of students in English and Spanish.
Another book, following ‘The Birth of a Universe’ is currently being written, explaining what pregnancy brings and what is the role of participant elements during conception to understand what personality and character is in adult times.
I am an Associate Professor by Universidad Maya Kaqchikel, Nimatijob’al Maya’ Kaqchikel, Campus Xenacoj, Guatemala 2015 to date.
My efforts have been directed to present an ancient knowledge not as a folkloric tale, but as a science that can explain us all as the result of inception/conception processes. A full science still to be shared.

In my own words
The Maya science and philosophy that studies procreation points towards a sacred and cultured femininity. In the acts of one’s mother are the biological and cognitive connections that will structure the deployment of the different forms of conscience through which one will face the world and decant in perception and interpretation.
